Kwame Kilpatrick Indicted!

The Wayne County prosecutor announced today that her office will bring 8 charges against Kwame and 7 against his former chief of staff that center around perjury and obstruction of justice.  Shortly after the announcement, Kwame and his attorney Dan Webb held a short press conference with a response.

“I look forward to complete exoneration once all the facts surrounding this matter have been brought forth,” Kilpatrick said in a prepared statement that he read at the news conference. 

The interesting part for me was that instead of talking about the facts in the case, Mr. Kilpatricks attorney is more interested in suppressing evidence.  He claims the text message evidence was illegally obtained.  So much for all the facts exonerating the mayor.  It appears that his best defense is to keep the evidence out of the courtroom.
